MTSS
Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) at Graham Road
Supporting student success
MTSS is a framework through which school teams make decisions, using data to provide high-quality instruction and to best meet the needs of all students. The tiers of support apply to academics, behavior, and student wellness. Here at Graham Road Elementary, we follow a team approach to meeting the needs of ALL students in our building. We teach a diverse group of students, and we believe that all students can achieve high levels of learning. We work together as a staff to ensure all students have what they need to access instruction and be successful.
Within the MTSS framework, we work as a school team to…
-provide high quality core instruction (Tier 1), which includes instruction in academics, behavior, and social & emotional wellness
-review student data from multiple sources to determine next steps for instruction and support
-monitor student progress and analyze student data regularly, using it to inform instructional decisions
-develop individualized intervention plans and provide timely, research-based intervention to address student needs (Tier 2 and 3)
-communicate with families regarding student needs and progress
At GRES, teachers work collaboratively in teams to provide instruction and evaluate student progress. If more support is needed, teachers work with the MTSS team to provide targeted, data-driven, research-based intervention at the Tier 3 level. Frequent progress monitoring is done to ensure student success.
